Some 825 ageing headstones remain today in the Old Colony Burying Ground, memorializing Granville's original settlers and earliest residents.
Their voices are of course silent now, but the truth is that every stone has a story. Come and make the acquaintance of some of the first Granvilleans, the people who created the distinctive town we treasure today.
Lyn Boone retired in 2010 from Denison University, where she had been Director of the Alumni Office and later a grant-proposal writer. She serves as a volunteer for the Granville Historical Society, and as a board member of the Old Colony Burying Ground in Granville. For over 30 years, she and her husband Keith have been actively involved in the project to restore and preserve that historic cemetery.
Lyn and Keith moved to Granville in 1986. Nowadays they live at Otterbein Granville, a senior community where Lyn serves on Otterbein’s Development Committee, on the staff of Tower Lines newsletter, and as co-coordinator of the book club. The Boones are avid travelers both in the U.S. and abroad, especially seeking out places where they can enjoy nature, history, and fine seafood.
