Register to join us for a tour of the Octagon Earthworks, a World Heritage site. For Adults and Teens Rising Grades 7-12.
The tour will cover background about the Hopewell Cultural Period and how key feature of the Octagon emphasize how the Indigenous peoples who gathered here 2000 years ago embodied their connection to the earth, sky, and bodies of water through the construction of this sacred landscape.
The tour is approximately an hour long and will cover about 3/4 of a mile with multiple stops throughout. The ground is mostly flat and easily walkable, but we will be walking on mowed grass so be sure to wear walking shoes that are fit for the weather conditions of the day. We'll meet at the Octagon Visitor Center (125 N. 33rd Street, Newark, OH 43055), there is ample parking around the building.
