Ceramic Workshop for Adults: Herb Planters

with Markgraf Clayworks

Make a planter using a slab construction technique. We will roll out sheets (slabs) of clay and add textures by pressing fresh herbs like sage and rosemary into the clay. For Adults.

We will be making planters using a slab construction technique. We will roll out sheets (slabs) of clay and add textures by pressing fresh herbs like sage and rosemary into the clay. Once the slabs are impressed with their nature inspired patterns, they will be wrapped around a cylindrical form and then have a bottom added. It will be optional to add a loop to hold snippers and stamping with letter stamps to add herby words. Projects will be taken back to the studio at Markgraf Clayworks, where they will be dried and fired. After the first firing, the artists at Markgraf Clayworks will add color to the inside of the planters and an earthy rub of iron oxide on the outside to accentuate all the beautiful herbaceous textures.  

Projects will be picked up from the library when the firing processes are completed. (approximately 4-5 weeks after the event.)
